Myrtle Beach Boardwalk

The Myrtle Beach Boardwalk is one of the easiest places to begin a first visit. Running along the oceanfront in central Myrtle Beach, it connects beach views with restaurants, entertainment and some of the city’s best-known attractions.

This is not a quiet coastal walk. The boardwalk is part of the resort experience, particularly around the busier central sections, and that is exactly why it is worth seeing at least once.

Walk rather than rush

You do not need a detailed itinerary. Start near the ocean, walk a section of the boardwalk and see what catches your attention. The beach is always close, so it is easy to move between sand and city.

The Myrtle Beach SkyWheel is the most obvious landmark and gives the area a distinctive skyline.

Come back in the evening

The atmosphere changes after dark when lights and entertainment become a bigger part of the experience. Families, couples and groups all use the area, although the mood varies considerably depending on season and time of day.

I would combine the boardwalk with a few hours on the beach rather than treating it as an attraction that needs an entire day.

It is touristy, certainly, but Myrtle Beach is a resort city. Sometimes the best introduction is to embrace the place on its own terms before exploring quieter corners of the Grand Strand.
