Myrtle Beach in Fall

Fall changes the rhythm of Myrtle Beach. The summer vacation peak begins to fade, but the beach, golf courses and major attractions do not suddenly disappear.

For visitors who do not need the hottest possible beach weather, this can be one of the most comfortable times to explore the Grand Strand.

Enjoy the coast without midsummer heat

Milder conditions can make long beach walks, mini golf and outdoor sightseeing considerably more pleasant. Water temperatures and swimming conditions naturally vary as the season progresses.

Golf is another major reason people travel to the area during the cooler parts of the year.

Watch the weather

Fall also overlaps with Atlantic hurricane season. That does not mean you should avoid Myrtle Beach entirely, but weather forecasts and travel flexibility matter more than they might on a spring trip.

Never ignore evacuation instructions or official storm guidance.

A different Myrtle Beach

Some seasonal businesses adjust their hours after summer, so check individual attractions and restaurants before making a special journey.

The reward is a resort that can feel less frantic. I particularly like fall for combining the beach with places such as Huntington Beach State Park, Brookgreen Gardens and Murrells Inlet.

You still get the Grand Strand experience, just with more room to slow it down.
