Myrtle Beach Without a Car

You can visit Myrtle Beach without a car, but your choice of accommodation becomes much more important. The Grand Strand stretches for many miles, and attractions that appear close on a regional map can be inconvenient without your own transport.

Stay central

If you want a largely car-free trip, choose accommodation near the central oceanfront. The beach, boardwalk, SkyWheel, restaurants and several visitor services can then be reached on foot.

That setup works particularly well for a short vacation where beach time matters more than exploring the entire region.

Use transport selectively

Local public transport serves parts of the Grand Strand, while taxis and rideshare services can fill gaps. Check current routes and schedules before relying on transit for a specific attraction.

Places such as Broadway at the Beach require a journey inland, while Brookgreen Gardens, Murrells Inlet and communities farther north or south become more complicated.

When is a car worth it?

If you plan several day trips or want to explore beaches along the entire Grand Strand, a car adds considerable flexibility.

For three or four days centred on the oceanfront, however, you may decide that avoiding parking and driving is worth the trade-off.

Myrtle Beach without a car is therefore less about transportation tricks and more about good planning: stay where you actually want to spend your time.
